Read Both Sides....

The official Voter Pamphlet is now available to view on our "Documents" page.  Read both sides of the argument and make your own decision.

What you will see on the "NO" side are a multitude of concerns, many that beg greater questions to unresolved issues and concerns relative to property rights, road usage, business plan flaws, wildlife and environmental concerns... the list goes on and on.

What you will see on the "YES" side are a lot of kudos from friends about how nice the Aldridges are and how this will be so good for the city, bringing in jobs, revenue and goodness.

Dig digger into those promises....  they are projections and lofty estimates that have not been substantiated.

Dig deeper into the concerns and you will see that this project is filled with uncertainty and unforeseen consequences and potential expenses.

If if doubt, VOTE NO.

Did You Know #8

Did you know that the roads that access the area planned for the Aldridge's proposed RV Park are PRIVATELY owned and maintained by the Refuge POA and are only available for golf-course related use?  NOT for RV park usage.

This is part of ONE of the current lawsuits.

See our "Documents" tab on this website for the Board Resolution on road usage.

Did You Know #7

Voting will be conducted by an ALL-MAIL ballot that will be mailed to our homes during the latter part of April.  It will be important for us to get the ballots marked (NO, of course!) and mailed back to the City in time to be counted on May 17th.   The last day to register to vote is April 18th.

Mark your calendars, this is an important way for us to make a difference in our City!

If you would like to speak with us or send us a note that you would like to publish under "Other's Views" on this blogsite, you can find our contact information on the tab shown above.  Thank you for your continued support.

Did You Know #5

The City knew that a referendum petition was a potential (and likely) outcome of approving the annexation ordinance, but they did not disclose that to taxpayers.

What other unintended consequences/costs have they failed to communicate to taxpayers?

Did You Know #4

Promised jobs? Read carefully. If you believe the Aldridge's own numbers, they are talking about 6.25 (seasonal?) jobs per year that MAY be added (and there are no guarantees). Think about it.... This is a 4-year phased in plan.... Lots of jobs? Or spin? You be the judge...

Did You Know #3

Did you know...That every page of the Aldridge's website includes this disclaimer statement:The golf course redevelopment, the development of the Motorcoach Resort and the construction of a portion of the club facilities has not commenced or is not complete, and there can be no assurances given that these club facilities will be completed, completed on the anticipated schedule, or, if completed, that such club facilities will be completed as presently planned.”

In fact, their business plan has already changed many times since they originally began this development.   And yet the City is banking everything on the fact that they will deliver exactly as they originally promised to the City, delivering the expected revenues and jobs.  Is our City Council really that naive?  We aren't....

Vote No on Refuge Annexation

Did You Know (#2)

Did you know that the Refuge golf course itself is not part of this annexation? Even if the annexation is approved, the "modified" golf course would remain in County jurisdiction.  The City would not get another golf course, it would get another RV Park.
